How to manually configure an Aastra 6700 Series VoIP handset, this guide includes additional settings designed to optimise the handset for use in the UK.
Handsets covered by this guide: Aastra 6730i, Aastra 6731i, Aastra 6735i, Aastra 6737i, Aastra 6739i, Aastra 6753i, Aastra 6755i, Aastra 6757i.
Step 1
Press the Settings button on your handset (the button that looks like a spanner), then press the scroll down button to reach Phone Status.
Press the button to confirm selection, then select IP&MAC Addresses and press the key again.
The IP address of your phone will appear on the handset screen.
Step 2
Type this IP address into any browser window and press Enter, this will take you to the phone's web portal.
Step 3
You will be prompted for a username and password. If your phone has factory default settings the access details will be:
Username: admin
Password: 22222
Step 4
Click on the Preferences link on the left hand side which can be found directly under Basic Settings, and then scroll down to the bottom of the page.
Under Directed Call Pickup Settings enter the following configuration:
Directed Call Pickup: Enabled
Directed Call Pickup by Prefix: *33
Play a Ring Splash: Disabled
Under Time and Date Settings enter the following configuration:
Time Format: 24h
Date Format: DDMMYYYY
NTP Time Servers: Enabled
Time Server 1: 0.uk.pool.ntp.org
Time Server 2: 1.uk.pool.ntp.org
Click the Save Settings button at the bottom.
Step 5
Now click on the Line 1 link on the left hand side which can be found under Advanced Settings.
Under Basic SIP Authentication Settings enter the following configuration:
Screen Name: Your SiPalto Extension Number
Phone Number: Your SiPalto Username
Authentication Name: Your SiPalto Username
Password: Your SiPalto Password
Under Basic SIP Network Settings enter the following configuration:
Proxy Server: Your SiPalto Server Address
Proxy Port: 5060
Outbound Proxy Server: Your SiPalto Server Address
Outbound Proxy Port: 5060
Registrar Server: Your SiPalto Server Address
Registrar Port: 5060
Registration Period: 300
Click the Save Settings button at the bottom.
Step 6
Now click on the Global SIP link on the left hand side which can be found under Advanced Settings, and then scroll down to the bottom of the page.
Under Codec Preference List enter the following configuration:
Codec 1: G.711a (8k)
Codec 2: G.711u (8k)
Codec 3: G.729
Click the Save Settings button at the bottom.
Step 7
Now click on the Reset link on the left hand side which can be found under Operation, and then click on Restart.
Your handset will then reboot and should come online with all the correct settings, this reboot process should take no more than 90 seconds.
